So a year ago (maybe a bit more than that, actually), I decided I needed to change my website hosting and design. Kind of a gargantuan decision when I don’t pay any professionals to do any kind of web design for me. I decided to move to WordPress because the price was much better, and WordPress is supposed to be pretty awesome.
I think WordPress could be pretty awesome. I’m just now getting around to putting it all together because I tried several times over the past year, and it just seemed so huge and daunting and not user friendly. Granted, I came from a web hosting site that had a drag-and-drop builder, and that was the easiest of the easy, and I LOVED it. But the prices kept creeping up every year and I was tired of it.
So I’ve spent quite a few hours trying to figure this out and put something together that I can be happy with. The only bummer? I saved the blog post files from my old site, but all of the files have code only. I haven’t been able to dig out any of the actual text from those posts. So I guess I’ll start from scratch here. (Nov 2024 edit: I’m so glad I’m super organized! I was recently going through all my writing files on my computer and found a folder of the text of all my old blog posts! Woohoo! So those will start appearing in the News tab of my site! Yeah for keeping files!) (Jan 2025 edit: I think I’m starting to get the hang of this, and WordPress is proving to be pretty handy.)
But let’s face it, all this site really has to do is be easy to read, easy to navigate, and easy for you to find my books.
Let me know if this new site accomplishes that!
